Still not working here. Severe problems at the weekend with "3004" errors, and I'm not the only one.

Google Groups

Will try cache clear. Maybe I was silly for thinking it was a PayPal internal problem!

And now I'm timing out.
:P

From the eBay announcement page:

***Errors Accessing PayPal***
Date: 10/11/04    Time: 08:55:00 AM PDT

Members may be experiencing intermittent errors while accessing the PayPal site or when attempting to pay for eBay items with PayPal. We are aware of the problem and are currently working on a solution.

We appreciate your patience at this time.

Regards,
eBay

thx for the confirm. same here, time out...
Would've started to be a bit concerned if it had screwed around with Firefox somehow since I can't use IE any more. (Upgrade to SP2 killed that!).

OK. I feel a little better now. I cleared the cache but still can't access. Guess I'll just have to wait it out.

Typical eBay / PayPal shenanigans - they list the problem, then list it as fixed.  The next status note, the one I quoted, lists it surprisingly as broken again ...

With very very very few exceptions (mainly Windows Update), there's no need to even bother with IE if you have Firefox.  In my favorites, I think I have three sites besides Windows Update where I have to use IE, mainly because the sites themselves are engineered with IE in mind, and the video feeds on those sites have a little tweak to them that renders them practically useless on anything but IE.

What about SP2's upgrades to IE didn't you like?

*g*.  Well, once SP2 had stealth-uploaded itself, the only mistake I made was to hit "install" (1 1/2 hours, if I remember correctly).
Now as soon as I launch IE and give it any URL, it crashes. Nice one, Bill ;)

Firefox still seems a bit rough on memory management for long, intensive sessions, and I've been with it since 0.6/0.7 or thereabouts, but there's no going back now (literally, without a reinstall, I suspect!).
It is a better browser all-round, despite those few small incompatibilities.

</end sales pitch>

PayPal is STILL acting flaky for me -- I can't get in or it fails, and I have like 18 things to pay for right now =(

It was down last night, then it was up.  Then it was down this morning and I just had a buyer call me up personally to tell me that he was trying to pay me and couldn't connect to PayPal.  So it is having problems, at least for people in some areas (I'm in Indiana, Buyer was in Florida).

It is still down for me ("We are sorry that we are unable to complete your request at this time. Please click retry or try again later.
Message 3004").

oops - Third time is the charm.  I just got in.

Regardless, I would give your buyers a lot of patience with regards to expecting payments for the next couple days till this is fixed.

I am on SP2 right now, and I seem to have no problems with IE, though of course IE just sucks anyway.  Have you tried adjusting your permissions on IE?

As for Firefox, I do occasionally have to shut it down if I have it going for a really long time, but that's a minor inconvenience compared to the benefits gained by switching to a browser that is truly standards compliant, and doesn't deal with Active X or drive by downloads.

No access, 130 incoming payments pending ...

Can anyone get in?  I'm noting over in the eBay forums, the talk about lawsuits and reformation is getting organized ... PayPal touts itself as an online bank, but what do you think the public reaction would be if you went to the bank for desperately-needed cash, the doors were locked, and there was only a sign saying, "Sorry, there's a problem, we're working on it, thank you for your patience."

In other news, shares of eBay are up ...
