I thought we had a page somewhere on the main site listing the module code meanings, but I can't seem to fit it, even with the search engine (and it's not in the FAQ).  Anyone have a pointer???

From my flawed and aging memory...

B= Beginner
A= Against the Slavers
C= Competition
G= Against the Giants
D= Drow
S= Special
T= Temple of Elemental Evil
L= ???
X= Expert Module
DL=Dragonlance

Or... did you mean something else?

Just click on the list of "Modules".  When you click on a particular one (i.e. A1) the Acaeum lists them as part of the "Aerie" series.

Thanks all.

I also recall that someone in the forums here also posted an official list of the codes from a UK source---a WD interview, or TSR UK interview or something like that???

PS:  Paul, are the Castle Zagyg modules using the Z code, or were you just kidding around? :D

It might have been me. There is a module overview in a WD publication called The Good Games Guide. It summarizes modules up to 1983 or so.

Just kidding. I can't imagine if the letter code had stayed in place that Z would have been used for anything else!

ST is short for steam train according to Heroic Worlds. The stoke association would be a product of Foul's correspondence with Graeme. Only he can confirm this.

I don't think the speculation came from Graeme himself... if he even remembers.  I'll shoot him an e-mail and see what he says.

I still say Steam Train and Stoke-on-Trent have an equal shot. The module is about a plane travelling salamander powered/engineered steam train. The other module codes are based on the nature of the adventure and both titles are likeley candidates. I go with Steam Train because that is what Lawrence Schick presented. No harm mentioning both as a possibility.

darkseraphim had a few ? marks with the module codes he listed.  I think I have one of them:

HHQ = Head-to-Head Quest.

Also, stromber's list and the Acaeum list the EX modules as "Expansion".  They are (technically) EXtension.  (Says so on the second page, top paragraph: They have been given the EX designation to indicate they are an Extension of the regular Castle Greyhawk Dungeon levels).

EX = Extension

"Gleemonex makes it feel like it's seventy-two degrees in your head... all... the... time! "

Good enough for me!  I'll change this.

So Scott, would you consider adding this code info as a page within the FAQ or something like that---a consolidated reference for them all in one place?

Probably not in the FAQ -- but I'd certainly consider a separate page, probably in the library section.  That should take all of five minutes to complete... and I think I'll do that right now.
