They come up occasionally. Off the top of my head I'd say 2-4 of them in the last two years. I'm sure I miss them occasionally too, since searching gamescience on eBay gets you more BIN results than I care to check every week.

I've bid on the ones that I do see and have been outbid every time. I don't remember what they end at usually though. $20-30 maybe.

What would an empty 4th/5th print OD&D box in slightly above average condition go for on eBay right now? and now we know!

I thought the PH and DMG were today - and that the prices were higher - but its from 2017. Wow.

Am I correct Black Opal Eye seems to come up for sale less often than the other R and RPGA titles. It also seems to sell for more and, for me, it was harder to find and the last of the 8.

Just wondering if there led any insight or insider info..?  Did they print/sell fewer of this title?

I draw the line at collecting... D&D beach towels.

Shoulda been: ".. from Pangreenia to Floratopolis, from mystical Treeonia of spectral Forests to Schruborial dimensions." - The Forests of Leng

The evidence does seem to point to that Thunderdave though I don't have any confirmation either.

Maybe a little bump will help here

There is a stain on the back and it appeared to me there might be something wrong with the spine.

All I have to say is that I sure as Hades didn't see these two while they were current.

Someone on another thread asked how the market has changed over the last decade. I didn't want to be a downer by mentioning the recession of 2008, but that seems to be rapidly returning in any event. Back then, it was common to see nice items go for a fraction of what they would have at any other time. Now that toilet paper seems to be at the top of everyone's spending priorities, a collectibles auction that starts low might stay low.

That was a great snag for Tricolor.  The Gamma World set had a lot of issues so that price was okay.

I believe these are nothing else than photocopies... Likely vintage photocopies, but still photocopies...

Thanks aia. Kind of what I thought, interesting only because it comes from an old collection.

Very nice.  Is the back cover a bad picture? I couldn’t tell if that was faded or not.  Eyes are not working this morning.

The back is silver.  It's worn and yellowed a bit, but it looks about right.

I can't believe how much prices have gone up in the last couple of years. I feel I am priced out of the hobby now.

I remember when you could pick those up for a shade over GBP100.
Both my copies had the blue/black back cover. Not seen a copy with the silver back cover before, but I much prefer the near black full cover.
It's staggering how little you can buy with GBP100 these days.
Regardless of the loss of purchasing power in the USD, I don't think a book in that condition is worth the $1400 spent on it. It's had life in school bags and looks rough. Fair at best.

This week I've been mostly eating . . . The white ones with the little red flecks in them.

If this was a legitimate listing, someone just got the deal of a lifetime:
