What's with the person with the 1 feedback that is driving up the price?  Shocked

I'm trying to figure that one out.  Looks like there may be a new big spender on the block.  Shocked

This item makes me glad I hate the Planescape "art." Definitely don't see the attraction, but for a completest... I guess it makes sense.

Good luck on the auction. If it beats a woodgrain, I'll be very upset. Wink

I received an e-mail from this person, morte_rictusgrin. He states that he is from Russia and has asked me if I would be willing to ship the sketchbook through EMS. Is anyone familiar with this shipping agent? He also says that it is a state company there.

My concern is he has a feedback of 1 and has bid incrementally...and therefore looks like a shill. I have not decided yet, but I may have to cancel his bids.

(Sorry, Purple, but I can't help you with regards to EMS.  Never heard of them.)

Actually, he probably means Express Mail Service.

Still can't help you any further though.  Maybe one of the regular sellers can however.

Me, I was top bidder until a few minutes ago. Really thought I'd win at that price. Bummer, can't go higher. Gutted, thought I had it.

My wife and I made our guesses as to the end-price and we both agreed the top would be in the $900 range. I was originally going to put a reserve of $500, but out of the blue, last week I received an e-mail offering as high as $750 for it. So, I decided to go with a $600 reserve. I guess my concerns were unfounded.

Neither of the top 2 bids are from the account with only 1 feedback so the current sales price won't even change if you cancel these bids or not.  Also, if you look at this person's past bids, they are on several other peoples auctions suggesting it is probably not a shill but many people will not look at this.  To avoid the whole conspiracy of the shill, I would just cancel them.

I Wouldn't cancel the bids,  shilling usually means that you have shilled your own auction not someone else...

I don't think that the shill has actually taken place but I think a number of people will look at the bids and just assume.  In thinking it over a bit more, it probably doesn't really matter anymore either since the only people bidding now are the serious hitters - who know the situation.

That's the kind of price that makes you think real, real hard before pressing the button again. Anyone think this auction will encourage a few more copies into the open?

Meg,
I was actually thinking that this might encourage a copy or two to come out but we will have to wait and see.

I have decided not to cancel the bids of the person with the 1 feedback since he no longer plays an issue with the current bids.

I'd think twice before sending that stuff to Russia. Unless you got the dough beforehand (not a paypal transfer, but real money)

Yes, Garion, that same thought about sending something to Russia crossed my mind. I have heard too many horror stories...and I don't mean Baba Yaga's Dancing Hut, either.
