Hi there,
I have a number of mostly gaming-related items that I would like to sell. I've put together a small website to provide a few details of the condition of each item, together with photos and/or scans where possible.
I've just added the Planescape items I'm selling - they're mostly in near mint condition so come and take a look!
The address is: http://www.nessus.demon.co.uk
Regards,
Baskii |

Anyone else having trouble? |

I'm feeling moderately helpful today.
Baskii -- you've got a backslash in the file path after the word "images", what you want is a forward slash. The backslash will work interchangably on your local computer, but not on the web. It gets changed into "%5C", which then points to a file that doesn't exist on your web server, and the pictures don't show up.
(Note the space in the filename gets changed to "%20", but that one's techincally ok. Still, remember what your grandma told you, and avoid using spaces in filenames. Use underscores instead. Perhaps my grandma was ahead of her time.)
For example, if you have:
| Code: | | http://www.nessus.demon.co.uk/RPG/images\PHB Back.jpg |
It ends up becoming:
| Code: | | http://www.nessus.demon.co.uk/RPG/images%5CPHB%20Back.jpg |
after the server mangles it for web use. What you want is:
| Code: | | http://www.nessus.demon.co.uk/RPG/images/PHB Back.jpg |
Users in the know can manually make the change after clicking on the links, but most won't. |

Of course Internet Explorer deals with the incorrect link fine but Firefox (which follows the standards) doesn't .... |

Thanks Deimos. That's a very embarrassing mistake and I should know better. I've now removed all traces of backslash from the site.
As for the spaces in the filenames...guilty as charged! I was just too lazy to change them to underscores.
On the plus side, at least I've offered an opportunity for everyone to have a dig at Internet Explorer!
Thanks all. |

No probs.
For the truly lazy, you can just omit the filename from the URL and browse the entire images directory, anyway:
http://www.nessus.demon.co.uk/RPG/images/
I find it to be a handy feature, but if you don't want people to be able to do that, you've got to put a blank file named index.htm in the images directory. |

Hiya,
If anyone's interested I've added quite a lot of items to my site, although as they're mostly AD&D post-1990 I may be playing to the wrong crowd here...!
I've also tweaked the site to make it a bit easier on the bandwidth and on my web space (small thumbnails, slightly smaller item pics, more JPG compression. God bless Photoshop's "Batch" feature).
I'm nearing the end of the scanning/photographing frenzy - at last! God help anyone doing this who has a really big collection...
Thanks,
Baskii |
