(This thread's title has been renamed as there was a concern some people might have missed it.)

Consider it your personal invitation to an unofficial chat hosted on my site, intended for Acaeum member use:

http://deimos3428.acaeum.com/chat

It's still very rough around the edges, (basically I haven't done a darn thing except install it), so send me PMs on how to improve it.

Hopefully, it will become a useful place to talk "live" to other Acaeum members, discuss ongoing eBay auctions, printing minutiae, etc.

You can even play an RPG if you want, as there's a rudimentary dice-rolling function.  (I'm brushing up on PHP as I type this, so the functions may improve as we go along.)

Hope to see you there.

Thanks to all that have shown an interest thus far; hopefully more than one of you will show up at the same time, eventually.  We currently have nine registered users!  Smile

The bot presently active in the chat is there for testing purposes, and will likely get smarter as we go along, depending on how much time I can dedicate to writing rules for it.  As he can get annoying, I've moved him to a separate room.  Those that wish to play with an AI can join that room, or send him a private message (whisper).

The dice functions aren't very good, but they are present.  The one that best fits RPGs works as follows:
/d4t3 means roll 3d4.

(I know, it's completely backwards.  I'm going to write a better one.  The numbers in the triangles are the values rolled, not intended to represent d4s, incidentally.)

Guys, sign up. Not only is it a pretty slick piece of work, but it's a whole new experience to chat with Acaeum members in real-time ... faster than PMs, even!  Wink

(Registration takes about eight seconds, too, which I appreciated).

Good work, Lemur-Dude!

We just had six guys in there for a while ... many of whom are long-time members here ... it was truly an interesting way to spend an evening.

It's definitely worth a quick sign-up and test drive, for any of you out there who are sort of undecided.

Can I add my own bot to talk to your bot? Then I can just lurk and the two of them can slug it out.

Just a friendly warning:  Deimos made Badmike a chatroom moderator.  The sumbitch already kicked me off twice because my spelling was better than his.  Shocked

He was hanging around the chat anyway, I figure he may as well do something useful.  (Some of us have jobs, y'know!)

Are you using AOL?  I found I couldn't enter using AOL, I get in using Yahoo or straight from Internet Explorer.
