with these prices maybe i should wait awhile to complete my planescape collection. that is assuming that prices will come down to reasonable levels again... |

I used to have 3 copies of Hellbound in shrink. I sold two of them for $125.00 each a few years ago so prices have actaully come down some!

I dont know man, I have been watching Hellbounds recently becuase I am trying to get a replacement set for my current one which is incomplete and IMO the prices recently are just stupid. |

Come on, we talkin collecting here. Prices are stupid only for those not bidding for the stuff.
Whatever the reason, money, prestige, pure freakish paranoia, thiere is no logic to collecting. I bidded 170 bucks on the planescape flask and I feel the one that won the auction is now real happy he's got something so hard to find.
Ok peeps are dying in Africa, beggars crawl everywhere, many people cant pay their rent but, wtf, if i got the coin and the willingness why not pay insane amounts of money for something that makes me happy?
Nothing short of a collector can dig a collectors behavior. |

That is a feeling I know well! But hey, it's better to be safe than regret not bidding. (in fact, fluffmaister won't let me forget what I paid for a set of PS pins a few years back...) If you paid that much for it, too, at least we all know it's going to a loving home. I'm still surprised, but happy for you.
Personally, I have a little system I came up with. I think about how many hours I would have to work at my job (*sad face*) to afford a price I'm about to bid... and I think "If they came up to me and said, if you work X hours, we'll give you *this item*!"... would I say yes in a heartbeat? If the answer is yes, then it's worth it. It keeps me in check sometimes. Anyone else have a method?

Agreed! I can't believe the prices some of the books and boxes are going for! If this is steady, then prices have jumped from when I was buying the core stuff. Hellbounds back then fetched $50-60 or somesuch. I'm not sure I understand the current price hike. A lot of it, to me, seems to be newbie bid wars. Is that possible? |

Actually, it's one of the trickier ones to find for me. Although at these prices, I'm thinking long and hard about selling some of the stuff I don't use much. Craziness. |

Man, I can't imagine paying much for the PS Paperbacks. They're horrible :p
Got one of them (BLood Wars, I think), for $0.25 from a used bookstore the other day |
