Hi there folks,
I have won five SW mods off a seller in France listed with €15.90 posting each. After asking nicely if he would combine postage to the UK he sent the invoice for the full amount of €79.50 with the following message which neither I or Babblefish can make sense of-

"les transactions sont groupés afin de reduire les frais postaux vs devez regler par paypal la somme totale de 79.50? tout compris bien à vous"

If any French speakers can give me an accurate translation I would be very grateful.
NB this guy is not a new seller and has sold quite alot with 100% feedback and high DSRs so if he is not offering a discount I would be surprised although he does not mention combined postage in his listings.
Many thanks for any help Matt.

Something about the transactions are grouped to reduce postage, but PayPal requires it is paid together. This is as good as I can do for you...

Something like that.

Thanks for the quick response. Thats roughly what I got but makes no sense to me as is very easy to alter postage on ebay invoices for a combined discount. Perhaps I missing something and am waiting on a reply from him anyway. Cheers Matt.

I think it says;

"The transactions are grouped at the end to reduce the postage versus having it determined by Paypal with a total of 79.50.  Everything together is good for you"

What he may be hinting at is whether you have bought everything you want from him.  You could respond with;

"Je voudrais avoir tous mes transaction groupes ensemble de reduire mon postaux totale sil vous plait.  Je pense que vous n'avais pas reduire le totale do mon postaux.  Merci.  Je n'ecrire pas francais tres bien.  Pardon."

This means(somewhat literally);

"I would like all my purchases to be grouped together to reduce my total postage please.  I think that you have not reduced the total of my postage costs.  Thanks.  I don't write French very well.  Sorry."

I hope that helps.   Cool

You can also try a site like this one...

Copy and paste the text and see what comes out.  It's funky sometimes, but you'll probably get the idea.  You can also try it the opposite way by typing in your english response, and copy and paste the other language translation into your email to the seller.

Yeah, I always use an online translator and try to write short and basic sentences and it seems to work well for me.

yep, thats pretty much the gist of it. If he doesn't combine, it'll be cheaper to take the Eurostar or return flight and pick them up! Smile

We tried that with a sign we needed last time we went to Germany.

We got laughed at Smile

Doesn't always work...

Hello Matt,

Nice win, I have totally forgot to bid !
He said :
'I will send the modules together, the total amount is 79,50'.

I don't know how much he ask you for the shipping, but french post is quite expensive, maybe 15 Euros to send several modules to UK in a little box  maybe less in an enveloppe (but I am not sure).

If I can help you, don't hesitate !

Hi Nicholas, thanks for your help. As you may know I won the five shrink mods D3, G123, Q1, T1 and S2 for €57 which is a good price. Seller sent this message - "bjr,
je viens d'effectuer le groupement afin de reduire vos frais postaux" which I understand to mean the seller seeming so say he has grouped them together to reduce the postage, however the new combined invoice remains the same as sending all seperate at 5 x €15.90 = still an incredible €79.50. Sent your phrase and hoping he has made a mistake. Cheers Matt.

Let's stay in touch but it is odd, 79,50 is totally impossible.
His sentence means (for me), that you have to pay him 79,50 (so 57 €+ 22,50 € for the modules -that is probably expensive but it depends if he send you a little box or an envelope).
Does he invoice you for 57 + 79,50 ? or 79,50 for (modules + shipping) ?

Thats what I was hoping and is not unreasonable however the invoice is for cost of modules €56.29 plus postage of €79.50 for a ridiculous total of €135.79 ouch!!!!  He has yet to respond to my messages and luckily for him I have a lot of patience and not inclined to neg people in a hurry. If this is his idea of a combined postage dicount then he needs to think again to avoid spoiling his 100% feedback as other buyers are not so generous. Stay in touch Matt

I think as Nicolas that 79.50€ is shipping included. 5 modules would weight less than 1kg so international economic letter mail will cost 5.55€. Priority letter mail 8.60€. By colissimo (packets), it would cost 15.90€ or 17.45€ (depending on the final weight). If he takes the colissimo package, it costs 26.50€.
I am sure that he charged the colissimo rates (15.90€) plus a fee that inculdes paypal fees (for this amount, paypal will take as fee around 3€)

Try to ask him if he don't accept to ship with letter mail.

Cordialement."

Or something like that.
