I completely understand fireworks restrictions in towns and cities.
TOO many Folks are simply too stupid to trust not to hurt themselves or others.
And at least here, the ground cover is almost always too dry at this time of year.
Hey Ya'll... Watch this... |

The fact that others are stupid should have no bearing on my own ability to choose to be stupid. That is control. And, quite the opposite of the point of celebration. |

We have mild winters and moderate summers, but all of the military activity makes the zombie problem a real bother.
In King County, they're even allowed to vote! |
The term "Zombie" is so crass and politically incorrect! They prefer to be called "Undead Americans" now. Hmmph! Pretty soon, they'll want their own schools...

Zombie Stores are common in the UK now.
(its a term used when a store is losing money, but is still tied into a lease agreement, so onlt stays open to help pay the rent).

I prefer to call them Wal-Marts, due to the gloosy-eyed, drooling mass of brain-dead 'sure we'll sell our personal info/lose our jobs for the freedom of low prices' fools that I see go there.
Maybe that's just in my area, though. |

Randomness..
I've just found we now have ESPN sports channel on our satellite channels, seemingly appearing after Setanta went bust last week and NASN was removed!
Lots of baseball to watch now, but could anyone tell me if they cover the NBA as well? I'd love to get watching that again, but the UK coverage is usually really poor...
Cheers |

Sadly not this year. Some friends of mine just back and they rated it well this year. I am planning to head to a few festivals this summer with some friends, at the moment, probably Lovebox, Bestival and maybe Camp Bestival...

In King County, Washington they'd actually take that seriously too.
"Undead" might be too crass. "Differently Alive" or "Alternative Non-Lifestyle" might be better.
This comes up a lot in special education, where one group or other doesn't like the name of any given disability category.
Thing is...words like "retarded" were invented in order to avoid using other terms that people found offensive.
Undead Americans sounds like a song title by David Bowie. |

Citizen! Unhappiness is treason, citizen!
If you owned a house with a wood-shingle roof, then you would live in dread every Fourth of July weekend and water your roof before leaving the house for any length of time. The stupidity of one person often causes problems for other people.
OTOH, when I lived in the country, huge fireworks were going off everywhere and not fires. People did not have to sneak around illegally shooting off fireworks because, well, they were legal. |

We go to a friends' house every 4th and he puts on a big show (everyone chips in for the exploding bits and adds to the BBQ spread). A couple of years ago, someone in the same town started his own tradition, now they compete to see how can blow the most stuff up. One day it will end badly but until then, it's all fun. |

More Zombie fun. I think this might have been posted here before, in fact this site could be where I first heard of this, if that is the case, sorry for the repeat. Pranksters change construction signs to warn of zombies.

When I was a kid, my cousins would go over the border to Canada and buy shopping bags full of fireworks and smuggle them back into NY. I'm not talking about little firecrackers or roman candles either. This stuff was like one step below what the pros have. I'm talking about giant bottle rockets about 2 feet long and 3 inches thick that would go up a mile with a sound burst that sounded like a military test; and chinese fountains that would send up 50 fireballs at a time that would explode into flower shapes. You know, mondo pyrotechnics. I don't know how they got this stuff, just remember that it was from Canada and I remember it all had chinese lettering on the packages.
We'd take that stuff up to my dad's campsite in the Adirondacks on the 4th and put on a show for the whole campground. It was really something. Everybody had a great time. Good memories. |

According to Diggnation all of those computers have the same default password (kinda like gramma's router, lol). There have been reports of Velociraptor crossings around the country |
