Anyone have a clue as to the auction value of Dungeon Mag. #1 (excellent/near mint)?
Have not seen one on ebay in forever.
I am thinking of dumping to finance other stuff. Got rid of my other Dungeons year ago, but kept #1. Probably should have held on to all of them 2-15 or so. |

Bill, several of these have been sold over the last few months. Currently, you should expect to get around $150 for your copy of #1 Dragon, if in collectable condition. |

Thanks Sage. Will watch to see what happens.
Ralf... ...that was Dungeon #1 - not Dragon. Thanks, anyway. I think Dragon #1 has been hovering around that number for years. |

Well, yeah. That would be pricy Dungeon!!! Seriously. I haven't seen one of these on eBay, too. |

It seams to me that # 2 - 5 are more rare than #1, Everybody I know has a #1 but #3 and #5 are more elusive. I have seen # 1 go for about the $20 - $35 range depending on condition. I remember when Dungeon #1 came out, many of my gamer friends were buying multiple copies of it. Nobody I know bought multiples of #2 and up |

That is generally the case with most series items. Though the print run on these items were the same, but eventually #1 will star on top. |

My understanding is that we had distribution problems with #4 in the UK and hence this is difficult to get hold of over here. Which is why I bought mine from the USA. |

Thanks for waiting, and, thanks for the bid Grodog and others. It made me feel much better having those from the forum look into my auction.
Unfortunately, I ended this auction this morning because of an outside source giving me an offer I couldn't refuse yesterday: $44.00! I was beginning to feel that this may not climb over $25.00
I have seen the same problem with many of the dungeon magazines as well - #3 through #5 are hard to come by, Blackmoor. I think the ring of truth here is that the maiden voyage of most items, (ie issue #1's), are the chance for the best interviews anbd insights! These will be the crown of the magazine's run.
BTW: I always bought multiple copies as well...I do have an another extra Dungeon #1, #3 and #4(I think, lemme check) - if anyone would like to trade sometime...
Thanks again all,
Rick |

Hirward's Task and Trouble at Grogs number among my favorite adventures written in the latter stages of 1e. If you have copies of those issues, Rick, I'd be happy to trade.
I used to own Dungeon 1-20, but sold all of them when I quit playing D&D upon the release of 2e (and, more importantly in my case, when I discovered Ars Magica!). In fact, Paul bought many of my oldest Dragons, SRs, my OCE set and supplements, etc., back in 1995 or so, as did Jason Zavoda |

I just picked up #1-6, and considering I have 1-3 already, my extras will have to go too.
There are a lot of cases where issues #2+ of a certain magazine are scarcer, simply because people will buy a first issue, decide they don't like/want it, and not buy subsequent issues. Besides, first issues are heavily marketed prior to release. |
