right guys. been thinking some on this.
sunday.
mike wants to go look for some last minute bargains etc. others will no doubt be mooching around doing whatever and frank (if he is wanting to play in the game that is), will no doubt be finishing up in the auction room etc.
the game i wanted to play, we havent got a chance of playing, due to time restriction. there simply won't be enough time with everyone departing etc.
so what i am going to do is this. i am going to veer off a slight tangent to my original idea and play the game as a timed tournament. its very workable. the one person who knows of my current idea (in a whole), knows how this is going to work, so its all good.
so i will map out the adventure first and then trim it down for a reasonable time-frame of say 3-4 hours game play.
what does everyone think?
william (strato) - please pipe in again at what time youre going to leave.
what times does everyone suggest thats going to be workable for everyone? and what do you want to do about lunch? if we're going to play this, i am thinking we start before lunch really, so do we want to heist some food and bring it along to eat while we are playing?
any ideas?
frank M. are you in? i need to finalise characters etc, so i need to know for sure. if others are leaving and won't be able to play due to the time-frame - please let me know, so i can just get plans down in stone, so i know whats happening.
i would also be grateful if someone could kindly bring the following:
1e DMG, PHB (more than 1 for the players?), MM, Fiend Folio
a battlemat and an assortment of miniatures that we can use for battles. if thats not a possibility, i will improvise, so its not a biggie.
PC's will be pre-generated and will be good to go by the time we start. we will need 10-15 mins at the start, where i will speak to each player and mention some stuff about each character.
one last thing. is it possible, IF this game time is the actual time we are heading for, to get something in place where we are going to play? this will just save time come the time, so we can just make a beeline for there, sit down, set up and off we go with minimal fuss, due to time constraint.
any ideas, please let me know.
many thanks

Well I suppose there is no way that we would be able to reserve space at a hotel. Most rooms at the hotels would be too small to accomodate everyone.
We could try to reserve a large table at a downtown restaurant and play there. I know people play at The Ram on certain days but I dont know if the other restaurants would frown upon it or not.
I dont know if there are going to be some empty rooms available in the ICC on Sunday. And if there are I have no idea what their policy is on a bunch of gamers using them for a pickup game.
I hear Martin has a really large living room. |

There should be lots of room at one of the hotels we are staying at. Sunday is departure day and I doubt many of the con rooms are reserved; barring that, a table in an area like we gamed at last time would be just fine. Last year we weren't able to snag a larger table due to the many gamers all around; on Sunday I doubt that would be a problem.
I wouldn't count on the convention center have a room, but depending on when the convention "shuts down", again a large table in a public area might be workable. I think the last event ends at 4 pm.

well nearer the time, can one of you guys (preferably martin maybe?), see if we can arrange somewhere to play it. closer the better really - so we can get there quickly and just get on with things.

I will take the lead on this. However, I think we will be able to grab a table just like we did last year. If all else fails my living room will do.

Al,
This looks great! You have honored Bob's original work with the picture on the front, which is the way it should be. This will probably one of the more cherished things I take from this year's gencon.
One month - can't wait.

right chaps, here goes:
Rhendl Boltsmiter (M) - Dwarven fighter - MARTIN
Viktor Pureheart (M) - Human Paladin - FRANK M
Amras Culnamo (M) - Half-Elf Fighter/Magic-User - MIKE
Gyllest Mortari (F) - Human Cleric - JOHN
Willibald Adellard (M) - Human Thief - BRENDON
Kenedia Starr (F) - Human Magic-User - JEFF
these will be the characters in my game. as you can see, three are already taken, based on who played last year.
Brendon and Jeff, you need to choose a character from above.
Now this one needs to be sorted asap pleeeeeeeeeeeease. William (strato)...are you going to be able to play this, or is your time on sunday not going to permit it.
frank M...are you going to participate?
i need to know what to do about the last place, whether its going to be william/frank or A N Other. if neither can participate (sadly), then the place will be open to another at GenCon, so obviously, time is needed to allow them to make arrangements, if necessary (though i am sure it won't be needed).
please let me know asap guys. the planning is picking up speed now and looking good
many thanks
Al |

well the game is definately happening on sunday, sometime after the morning rush and then as lunch comes around, the game will be happening about then. i think we will finalise the exact time at the lunch on the wednesday night (as we will all be there then and would make it the most sensible)

well if things are as they originally stand, all places are taken, but if somehow the last place comes free, then youre in.
