Wow, can anyone remember Lance losing an auction for a rare?  If it's happened, I don't remember when.

topped 3 grand USD...over twice what its valued for per Acaeum Wink

so much for the Acaeum price setting scandal  Rolling Eyes

A "DM" copy has never been auctioned on Ebay before therfore the Acaeum price was at best a good guess.  Now we finally have a value.  Congrats TFM for buying this incredible piece.   Smile

I have beat out Lance a couple of times but not very often.  The last time it happened, I beat Lance but didn't make it past TFM.

Anyone know who 0***m (1608) is on that list? They've just popped up on another auction I'm interested in and if it is someone here I'd prefer to leave it.

Wow... There are two sitting on the shelf of my local mall bookstore. I guess I'd better stop by to pick them up today and throw them up on eBay Smile. That's just ridiculous; you could buy two Dwarven Forge sets for that price. Does anyone have an explanation for it?

Doing a quick search on completed auctions, one set sold 4 days ago for $77, so if they are still there, I'd pick them up and throw them up for auction  Razz

The only thing I can think of is if they (the buyers) were thinking they were buying both sets for the one price....and even then they would be paying more then normal.

The seller "found" two more and put them up as well http://cgi.ebay.com/Dungeons-Dragons-Dungeon-Tiles-DT1-D-D-OOP_W0QQite mZ320282745984QQihZ011QQcategoryZ44112QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZVie wItem...currently at $40USD with almost 4 days left to go.

Hi,

to be fair, these were a very limited print run, that gained popularity as further sets came out.

One of my staff has been looking for a cheap-ish one for a year or so, with no luck.

Cheers,

Yeah, those things are stupidly popular. People don't wanna use Dwarven Forge or Hirst Arts stuff -- that doesn't have the "D&D Logo" so it ain't good enough.

Hell, I'd rather buy two box set sof Warhammer Quest for that amount. Get damn near 200 miniatures of much higher (unpainted) quality than the DDM shite and get several really neat "dungeon tiles" too... plus lots of dice, some cards, and so on and so forth.

"D&D-mania" plus.... well, you guys are talking about them... so, Acaeum-effect.

I agree; 200 bucks for a shrink wrapped set of cardboard floor tiles seems a bit over the top to me.
Like as in over a cliff........... with no parachute, or hang glider.

I would MUCH rather spend 200 bucks on a HUGE box full of Dwarven Forge Walls, and floors.
Or two room sets, and some floors and walls,
Or a Caverns set, and some floor and walls,
Or almost amything they have save for the Sci Fi stuff.

Even though this is in SW, I think it's way over the top.

lofenloc must have money to burn. I have all of these in NM, and paid less than $20 each. These SW junkies.....

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=29025057393 5&ssPageName=STRK:MEDW:IT&ih=019

Incidentally, I think the Seller should give me a commission. These were originally listed with a $120 BIN. I broke that by making the $60 starting bid. I thought maybe $80 to $100 max. .... $177.50

Here's another high proce in Australia. Can't recall seeing one of these (World of Greyhawk Boxed Set) going for this much (just under $60) before:

Look at the buyer, the buyers home location, and buyers feedback score.  It pretty much screams payment verified and "certified mail signature required" to me if I were selling (even then, no offense to those of you legitimate collectors in Brazil, I wouldnt accept the bid unless the feedback score was much higher from an established bidder).  Such a high price for that kinda thing is not unheard of, we have seen alot worse, but it still makes you go  Shocked

OK... I was expecting to have to pay for a complete copy of B10 - Night's Dark Terror, but is this normal?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=150281412066

That just seems insane!   Shocked   I was bidding on this one but was blown out of the water. Am I just oblivious or do they really go for those prices? ($152.50) From what I saw online, I thought they would go for something like $55 in complete condition. (The Acaeum price guide shows it for $40 in NM condition.)  Either I am way wrong, or this particular auction was just bonkers. Can anyone help me out so I know what to expect when bidding for this sucker? Thanks.

I'm starting to learn that the Acaeum price guide seems to not be accurate when it comes to eBay.  lol

$150+ looks high. third bid $81 with minutes to end. not so many b10s recent while x10 more common. unpunched probably $75/100-125 until few more appear then see which way that goes
