NICE PDF.

OK, I have saved a few auction listings as a word doc and they tend to suck.
Yours is quite nice looking.
How do you PDF an auction listing like that?

Install something like CutePDF Writer (it's free).
http://www.cutepdf.com/Products/CutePDF/writer.asp

You then print the web page and select cutePDF Writer as the printer. Name the file and it creates a PDF.

Easy as that.  Cool

Not sure whether this is interesting or not. I don't think this is the TSR/RPGA belt buckle from 1981, but I'll be darned if it doesn't look familiar. Can anyone identify this? Is it collectible?

WHY would ANYONE place a listing for a supposedly UNIQUE collectors item that will cost the buyer between $700-2,100 (or more?!) and NOT use good photos?

Aneoth, everyone, I agree.

Out of curiosity I wrote to the seller and he believes he bought it at GenCon in 1999; he does not remember who sold it, does not have the Chainmail or the other supplements,  and he does not have any provenance. Last he wrote, "I don't believe Schick himself sold it so it may have gone thru a few hands.

When I posted it, I thought it was odd, now I just find it silly.

Jeez, I didn't even see the outrageous price until now.  That confirms my suspicions -- hail-mary prices just scream "scam".  $700-2100 is what you'd pay for a decent non-1st woodgrain, not a marked up OCE!

Actually it looks like Schick's handwritting. I have some pages of a Top Secret module he wrote and the handwritting on the box looks the same to me.

Note: Schick dumped a large amount of TSR products in the '90s. I picked up 4 orange B3s, Lost Tom McCann and Tournament Ghost Tower as well as a large number of boxed sets. (Should have picked up his manuscript copies of the players handbook and DMs guide too but I was out of cash).

This could be something he sold and was resold at Gencon. I can scan his writing and email it to anyone who needs an example for comparison.

Without some verification or additional material, I couldn't buy it.  Even with verification, I wouldn't buy it at that price.

Well unless there were some kind of extensive notes inside it really isn't any different from any other set of the same edition, unless you're into owning something owned by a specific member of the old guard.

Do you know if these later sold, Jason?  They'd be very cool to dig through, I'm sure Very Happy

I'm sure they are long gone. This was the mid-90s I believe. He must have sold the whole collection for a song. I just wonder what else could have been picked up at the time.

Um, "editorial copy" of a sixth print set (without the Chainmail and the supplements as listed on the box) with a rather hefty BIN and starting price.

Opinions?  I'm unsure what to make of it.

For what it's worth, The writing is very similar and consistent with the TSR editorial copies that I have (I have quite a few of them).  Provenance would help.  I think the asking price is way too high without it.

Even with proven provenance for this set, I think the price is still way over the top.  I would think that a top end for this set would be half of what the starting price is.

Holy smokes!   Shocked   It is me, or did a bunch of those monos sell a bit high?  I was trying for a few of them, but the bidding got crazy!  Check out the finals on some of those!  Is there something I am unaware of?  Did prices on those jump radically recently?

S2 - White Plume Mountain (mono)  - $36
D3 - Vault of the Drow (mono) - $36
T1 - Village of Hommlet (mono) - $32  (with 1/4" split at top of cover)

I guess some of the others seem a bit more reasonable, now that I look through the list, but those above sold high for some reason or another.  Go figure.

Nice of him to jam it into that rubber page holder, too.
