It cost $23.95 for the Priority Box.
(The wieght was enough to make the other same sized box option no better bargain)
If there is a cheaper way to send a box, I would love to hear it.
Next time I will look at the rates for First Class. |
The "Flat Rate" boxes are only a deal if they item you're shipping is relatively heavy. If it's a couple of pounds, don't use the "Priority International Flat Rate Box", use "Priority International" instead. It'll still get there in 6-10 days.
And yes, don't force someone to take Priority if they don't want it. Unless the package is over 4 pounds, First Class is considerably cheaper.
Example 1: item weighing two pounds:
Priority International = $18.40 (6-10 days)
Priority International Flat Rate Box = $23.95 (6-10 days)
First Class Mail International Package = $8.56 (varies)

In my city we used to have one of the major regional Canada Post sorting facility.
One of their employees was fired for stealing either money from envelopes or packaged items (don't quite remember the details).
He was convicted and sentenced and a couple of years later when he was released the Postal Union fought for him to get his old job back. Under their agreements at the time Canada Post had to take him back.
And that is why valuable packages tend to disappear in Canada. |

Sorry for the rant, but living in the southeast US, racism is a term that is too loosely thrown around for the matter of convenience for those who have had their feelings hurt. I'm off my soapbox now. |
Mike, I really think Guerret was reacting sarcastically to the comment. People from other countries can't possibly know the ridiculous lengths some in this country will go to claim "racism" as a bias...they don't have the cultural background. So cmon guys it was just a misunderstood comment.
As an example, a long time city councilman and city activist in Dallas was recently convicted (caught red handed, actually) of stealing money from a college fund he was supposed to be managing. He got jail time because he wouldn't apologize for his crime, citing the charge as "racist" (yes he's black, and yes a simple apology would have taken all jail time off the plate). The funny part is the college he stole money from isa black college, run by an all black administration, with all black students....and he was turned in by the all-black committee who were also overseeing the distribution of the fund.....to black students.....?????? Sure, that was "Racist".......
I think that might be part of the background CoastieMike is ranting from.....

Err, oh yeh, Canada is the OTHER country I may fib on the customs form concerning value....since never declaring anything to be over $50 the last few years, I've had no missing/opened/rifled packages. Before that, whenver I shipped something over $50 it was GUARANTEED to be opened and fingered at least once between here and it's destination. But hey they would "repackage" the item with an obligatory ONE strand of tape when they got through manhandling it and kicked it out the door to it's destination.....
Make no mistake, in my mind the Canadian and Italian postal "services" are about the same level of incompetence....

Well to be fair, if someone is going to make a sarcastic statement, perhaps the use of an emoticon would be sensible. There are way too many people on this forum of different backgrounds and mindsets to assume that everyone that reads a sarcastic comment or a joke will simply "get it".

It does get tiring seeing the racism card played constantly. I myself am not the least bit racist; I hate everyone equally, regardless of color. |

the point is that the comment is such impossibly true that an emoticon would not have explained more than the word itself... cant figure out that somebody could take it seriously for there are no smilies... |
