Isn't that the English US spelling of stereotype rather than the true English version?

The description matches that of the 1st print Woodgrain D&D set that tfm won a year ago (or so).  Broken box corner(s), photocopies/prints of artwork, pages coming free from one book - but otherwise very very good condition.

A nice looking set (and discounted in NKG's sale Wink ).  Potential purchasers should probably be aware that tfm paid a lot less for his.

It was an astonishing win, if I recall correctly.  Somewhere in the mid $2000 range?

about average price for those at time after price collapsed + had difficulty selling. would guess tfm trying to kick market back up gear for him by getting aaron to do work without checking ebay first

Bad layout but not enough spelling errors to make it a Coogie original.

How many people in Portsmouth, UK will have a copy of ST1, keep all previous auction history private and have been around since 1999?  I think it is coug trying to make an effort.  Capital letters used regularly and the title is a cunning change from VGC...VNC.  Just the style of English reminds me of him.

Having said that I'm hoping I'm wrong and somebody here has had dealings with, or can vouch for this seller, as it looks like a good copy.

If it is Coug, he went to a lot of effort to create a new identity.  This seller's had this name since 1999, which was before The Acaeum started giving him grief, I believe.  Plus, with a feedback of 753 with no neutrals or negatives just doesn't make it likely.  He's too hot headed to make it that far without issues.

I suspect this seller is legit. Confused

Wait a minute!  Our man does have negative feedback in his past!!! Shocked   Just to add more fuel to the fire, check this out.  In September of 2004, this seller had issues with another eBayer.

The other buyer said:

Tried to scam extra out of me on shipping. Deal with this ebayer cautiously. Buyer:  deepthoughts1126 ( 4061 [Feedback score is 1,000 to 4,999] )

     Follow-up by deepthoughts1126 (10-Sep-04 01:36):
...and then seller left retaliatory negative feedback... avoid this seller.

The guy we're looking at said:

This guy is a CHEAPSKATE-and online WINGER-Be very wary of this Buyer-Seller Seller: omaha-marsh ( 753 [Feedback score is 500 to 999] )

This is retaliatory feedback, seller tried to ridiculously overcharge shipping

Retaliatory feedback and overcharging on shipping!  Hmmmmm....  I still don't think it's Coug.

Well, it's inconclusive.  (Where's bclarkie when you need him?)

I wouldn't be surprised to learn cougarrinard has several long-standing aliases, but it's quite plausible that two people within 200 miles of Stoke-on-Trent have a copy of the module.

What does concern me, and leads me to lean towards "it's the Coug"  is that the text is clearly lifted (and modified) from the original Acaeum page.  Clearly the seller has used the site, yet does not put it in high enough regard to give it credit for the research.  Rolling Eyes

But its the fact that this seller is in Portsmouth and that is where Coug resides that bugs me.  I can take a guess at how many copies there are of ST1 in my town.  Zero.  How many copies in the UK? Less than 50?  Coug more than likely has a copy and now this seller has one.
More than likely it is a coincidence but two copies of ST1 in a town on the south coast of England where the Coug resides? Twisted Evil

Hi,

there used to be a dealer in that area. He was at one time the largest 2nd hand rpg and Magic dealer in Europe.

He eventually went bust about 10 years ago, as he didnt adapt well to the Internet. I think he moved on to an antiques business.

I assume he had money, as he was as ugly as sin and foul-tempered with it, yet his wife was a lingerie model (I can honestly say I never liked the guy).

BUT he DID have at various times good stocks of hard-to-find modules. He used to brag he had a massive personal collection.

Could be him. I'm not saying it is tho  Very Happy

The Coug did also cross my mind as well  Sad
The writing style is a bit coug-lish, the use of uppercase, plus the description looks like it has been put into a Word doc beforehand because of the weird formatting, which could be to spellcheck it.
Also the module is described as very fine, but its got a solid thump to the bottom front cover.
Mind, I'm not saying its him either  Very Happy

Cheers,
Malc

EDIT:
Conditions, as described by Abe.
New - A new book is unread, in print and in perfect condition with no missing or damaged pages.
As New - To be used only when the book is in the same immaculate condition to which it was published. There can be no defects, no missing pages, no library stamps, etc., and the dustjacket (if it was issued with one) must be perfect, without any tears.
Fine (F or FN) - Approaches the condition of As New, but without being crisp. For the use of the term Fine, there must also be no defects, etc., and if the jacket has a small tear, or other defect, or looks worn, this should be noted.
Very Good (VG) - Describes a book that does show some small signs of wear - but no tears - on either binding or paper. Any defects must be noted.
Good (G) - Describes the average used worn book that has all pages or leaves present. Any defects must be noted.
Fair - Worn book that has complete text pages (including those with maps or plates) but may lack endpapers, half-title, etc. (which must be noted). Binding, jacket (if any), etc., may also be worn. All defects must be noted.
Poor - Describes a book that is sufficiently worn, to the point that its only merit is as a Reading Copy because it does have the complete text, which must be legible. Any missing maps or plates should still be noted. This copy may be soiled, scuffed, stained or spotted and may have loose joints, hinges, pages, etc.

I'm sure these rares at any price help bring some publicity to NK (whether they need it or not).  Also, I don't know what Aaron's cut is either, hypothetically 30%? which takes a large part of profit.

Hi,

actually, putting 2 and 2 together, I would bet money thats its Southsea Models, as currently mentioned in the Random Thoughts or OT Chit-Chat Thread

Southsea is very close to Portsmouth.

Cheers,
Malc
