I wonder if it was re4321.  Not sure who's ebay account that is, but I've noticed him/her as a winner now and then.

Actually, I need to edit this message...the winning bidder on Ebay for me says "e***1", and definitely re4321 has more feedback than 31...

His feedback is at 734 - he's still winning a few rpg items - nice guy as far as i remember from the dealings I had with him. (IIRC he went through a period of buying lots of original art, but I could be wrong)

yep - going through his feedback, looks like he has bought a lot of stuff from the 'specialist' types over the years - burntwire, tsrart, collectors trove, dracoshorde, btb.galhavoc(is that Monty Cook?), as well as from loads of the 'standard' rpg selling names.

Not an ebay sale, but didn't want to start a new thread just for this:

Just got the weekly Noble Knight Games email and it says:

Prices are:
Ghost Tower of Inverness, The (Limited E (Module) NM- $2,495.00
Lost Caverns of Tsojconth, The (WinterCo (Module) NM- $1,795.00
Lost Tamoachan (Limited Edition Collecto (Module) EX $1,995.00
Up the Garden Path (Module) VG+/NM $2,995.00

Noble Knight just announced their giant year-end sale. 10% off everything in the store!  That might be all well & good, except when they jack up the prices of everything so that the 10% off isn't a sale at all.

I checked out the above items, and they were all jacked up a couple hundred dollars so that the 10% didn't lower them.  Rolling Eyes

I am a big supporter of NKG.  I do most of my online purchasing through them, and they are my first stop when dumping portions of my collection.  However, I gotta say I hate it when I see stuff like this though.  Makes me wonder if everything was jacked up...

I guess he is not as noble as he says he is Laughing

Doesn't surprise me much though.  This is the same outfit that tried to charge me $20.00 to ship a few packs of dice, he was whining that they went to cheap on ebay. (My response to him was don't sell them on Ebay then)

His big sale...........pay the same price Laughing

bargain on dragon archive btw

I think he actually paid $2,800 for this back in March.  If I recall, the box looked terrific (as it still does - you can see in hierophant's pics) which explained in part why the auction went quite high.  I also think that hierophant has given more information on the condition of the books than the previous seller.

I did think seriously about this n the last eight months, the pound to dollar rate has gone from about 2.05 to 1.48.  So, for example, if I had paid 1800 USD, I would have paid about £1,215, rather than only £875

I don't buy from Noble Knight Games any more.  I never really bought that much from him, but a few months ago, after an item didn't arrive - I emailed Aaron and although he said he would look into what happened... I never heard back.  Now that is not by any means poor treatment - but the main reason you have for spending extra to buy from Noble Knight games is the confidence that you are paying for a better service than from a typical ebay seller.

We are all aware of the risks in many ebay purchases - undisclosed item damage, missing sections, awful or minimal packing, moronic email correspondence, feedback stalking, items going missing, etc etc...  People are prepared to pay more for a trusted online service.  But it is really easy to lose that trust.  Crying or Very sad

I was the previous seller. In looking over his auction description, it does not match what I remember of the set. No pages were falling out. That's a fact. I also never opened the books and read through them, pulling at the pages and such. I flipped them open carefully, but nothing was falling out of them I am 100% sure. If anybody has a link to my original auction, I think you'll see I described the books quite accurately. I also took way more close up pictures and stuff. I was kind of confused as to what I was reading as well when I checked his auction, then I saw the box bottom and knew it was the one I sold.

I don't have a link or a saved copy of the March auction.  I did have the set rated as VF/NM on my own spreadsheet, which was my impression at the time.  That would also explain in part why the set went for $2,800  Very Happy

Although I remember the box pics from your auction, I don't recall in detail what your description of the books was like - which is why I thought he has given more detail.  If you remember that (i) you also had detailed description and close-up pics of the books as well, and (ii) that these are not the same books - then this may be a different box set.  I think the general assumption is that because these are rare and he bought a 2nd print with the same box tape marks that this was the same set.  Might be a different one.

[edit: dropped the seller an email to ask]

I've got a picture from the original auction on my laptop and will try to get them uploaded here as soon as I dig them out.  If I recall correctly, the picture I saved doesn't show the booklets up close, so I'm not sure how useful it will be for comparison, but maybe worth a look.

Steven's right, it did go for $2800 (checked my email from March 31), but I couldn't follow the old link to the original auction.

Zen, if you didn't open the books, you might not have noticed loose pages.  I'm not questioning your honesty, just your judgment ( Very Happy ).  Maybe you overlooked it, or maybe hiero put different books in your box.  I hope we can figure it out.

By the sounds of it, he may have toted the boxed set around and actually used it hence worsening the condition.

Found my pic from Zen's auction.  Looks to me like the same booklets that were in Hiero's auction.   Very Happy

Interesting.  I was hoping there would be some explanation.  I really like Aaron and love dealing with NKG. I hated to think they might be shady!

agree. no huge number of good sellers on public interwebs with large stock + had mostly pain with t&t compared to nkg. 3 separate sellers at t&t refusing to recognize each other + combine shipping was just silly
on one hand would have been good if nkg transparent about reason for adjustments but can see why might confuse to explain in public that is acting as agent for tfms sales instead of having those as purchased stock. not sure why system could not let them simply exclude from sale though to save hassle
