I've seen a couple of the games this year, and IMO, Trinity could beat a lower division college team......seriously. 300 lb Tongan offensive lineman tend to open up a few holes and pancake a few of the opposition, especially at the high school level, but I bet they could pound a few Ivy League schools if they had to. I Half the team already has scholarships and last year's state champion team sent quite a few athletes to Division One schools like A&M. Should be a fun playoff season for my alma mater, looking for another State Championship here and possibly #1 in the US....

When I saw the school, all I could think of was the,"Tongan Pipeline" you mentioned. I was amazed there weren't more teams from Texas in the top ten! I guess Trinity knocked them all out.

I'd pay to see Trinity against Princeton, especially after they scare the hell out of them with the Haka! Smile

I don't know of any Canadian RPG Powersellers, but Revenue Canada can get quite nasty. They're almost as bad as Canada Customs.

Well, it comes down to the fact you should pay taxes on your items, or be damn sure you are set up as a hobby (losing more money every month than you are making). If you do one of those two things it should be no problem, otherwise you were living on borrowed time anyway.

yes, no sympathy at all.

The Missus routinely reports sellers she regards as "competition" (once they've been around long enough) to the IR. Or sellers who just annoy her. Very Happy

This is the reason that I always strived to be just under the wire never a powerseller! It worked Smile

Heads up for anybody shipping to Canada. There is a Canada Post strike of their administrative and technical staff over sick days that could spread as slowdowns to the other Canada Post employees.

Southsea models - wow - just wow. I'd forgotten what game stores were like. Interesting article though, this chap was leaking a grand a month just staying open!

As it goes I think I preferred it before the refit.

(And will anyone admit to going down there and offering him cash for the contents of his store room!!)

I wish him well - lord knows there are not enough bricks and mortar stores, particularly here in the UK

The programme is about a shop expert who goes and offers advice on how to help ailing shops. One of these is Southsea models. It is a big shop but 40% filled with roleplay and GW stuff that sells and the other 60% topped up with crap. The shop expert basically tells him to have a clear out and focus on stuff that sells. So he does. Unfortunately there are no afters. Doesn't say whether the advice is good or not. It seems that the owner of the shop didn't embrace the internet too much. Imo with D & D and other roleplay I think the internet has too be the main focus of sales and this bloke didn't have it. Have a bricks and mortar shop for games and demos but not as your only POS.

He has a website (roleplaymerchant.com) which is advertised on his shopfront, but seems to be dead. The shop 'after' seemed a little like a GW clone, but if it it works to make money then hey-ho.

Malcolm - interested in knowing what he was like - I get the feeling he was more of a dedicated enthusiast than a businessman, can you shed any light, enquiring minds need to know?! (I couldn't find much on t'web - only thread involving him seemed he was a bit anti-wargamers and was scared of shoplifters in his store (unsurprisingly!))
