Good lord, I just remembered the reason I checked the OT thread in the first place this morning ... did someone mention a third fantasy football league?

If I have this correctly, the "main" league from last year will become a keeper league, and an additional league was added but filled up almost right away. Didn't someone mention a third league?

I've paged back a few pages, but — and, sorry, but it's the truth — all I see is political babble. At this point, I could either keep up a fruitless search or hope that someone drops by who can provide an answer.

Sea-to-sky posted a mention about another league near the bottom of page 34 but it got buried in a fast moving train wreck....  Wink

Ah, good eyes on that one!  Smile

I was hoping it actually existed instead of existing only in my head. I'm pretty sure StS won't be giving me the password for that one, though.   Wink

And now for something completely different.

My son has been evacuated from Georgia and is spending some time in my new favorite country, Armenia.  Should be heading home in a few weeks as the Peace Corps in Georgia takes a bit of a time-out.  He has a shot next June at the Ukraine or Bulgaria.  Rejoice with me as I open a nice bottle of white merlot and prepare to face down the steadily weakening Tropical Storm Fay.  And please stop this less than loving exchange of posts.  I'm trying to relax here!

Love you all!

Perhaps you should look up the definition of what a strawman is.  Then when you find that, you can search through this thread and point out where I tried to suppress your "freedom of speech".

We won't even get into the fact that this is a message board and "freedom of speech" rules don't apply anyway.

Haven't you embarrassed yourself enough for one day on here? Apparently not.

Good luck to your son and relax. If he gets to the Ukraine he may even run into some of my relatives.

Wait, what's wrong with Georgia? Don't they have a really good football team?

Bwah! More humor!

That's excellent news. As a parent myself, I know that the one of the worst things to endure is stuff you have no control over at all. Especially, in your case, where you're thousands of miles from being able to help or do something about it.

I'll have to pass on any of that wine stuff (you don't want to know about my last experience with wine), but I think I see a Dos Equis in the corner of the fridge.

For some reason I got a chuckle out of the story and thought I would share.  The above post was intended as a light hearted jab toward some of the Aceaum Texas Mafia (ATM) (TM) I have joked with in the past.  The post was absolutely not intended as a political debate or other hot button topic.  Again, my bad.

Now back to your regularly scheduled program...

...Yahoo's Survival Football

For anyone who has any spare time, they are welcome to join me in Yahoo's Survival Football.  All you have to do is pick 1 winning team each week.  The challenge is that you can only pick a team once.  So picking the Patriots in week 1 takes the Patriots off your board the rest of the season.  For anyone who is interested:

LJ, what fantastic news! Smile  I've been watching the threads off and on waiting for an update.  Since I missed the Friday night chat, I was certainly going to ask you this week.  Glad to hear he is safe.

Pop open the bubbly and let the celebration begin.

Expect some competition for last then. Wink  I am actually great at picking college football games, but I absolutely suck at picking pro games.

Hey!  I am a Georgian, and I will say it right now and here before the season starts that if Georgia ends the season as #1 it'll be a miracle.  I may be a Georgia fan, but I have common sense.  Georgia plays eight or nine coaches this season who have won a national football championship.  They play several teams in the top 25 and South Carolina who is ranked #26.  It's insane.  Yes, they are talented, and I believe they can beat any team in the nation on most days, but to beat that many good teams all in a row.  No.  It's not going to happen.  Their schedule is way too tough.

Now, if I were a coach at say Ohio State, I'd line up just enough tough teams to get attention and make everybody else easy.  You can rest up injured people and make it to the final game, which, interestingly, they have done on a fairly consistent basis.  However, they may have to re-examine their strategy; they keep losing to the SEC.

Speaking of Oho State, whoever wins the USC vs. Ohio State game will likely be #1 after the game, so Georgia won't be #1 for long anyway.
