Oh, forgot..

In the bottom right corner below the list of recently registered users I added a "Member List" link... basically I just manually update the list when users sign up so you can see the entire user list for now... until the programmers add an option to search/list the members.

Also, when you sign up, you are emailed a link you must click on to activate your account... recently 2 people have not clicked the link and in about 7 days, it will auto delete your account if you don't activate it. So be sure to activate your account. (You can buy/sell until it's active anyway)

this is a great site. thanks for putting it together!

a few suggestions for the sellers though - some of the buyer restrictions and shipping prices seem a little strange/high, don't they?

if the purpose is only to sell to acaeum/dragonfoot members then the restrictions probably don't matter. but shipping fees of $9-$10 for single modules or books seem excessive.

if the hope is to attract non acaeum/df members, i think many might be a little scared by the auction terms listed in various item descriptions.

just my $0.02.

Good suggestions. I think the entire idea of the marketplace, unlike Ebay, is that negotiation can take place. I for one just reposted my ebay shipping prices; I will lower these for any Acaeum member.  I bet other sellers will do the same.

I have always lowered my shipping charges for Acaeum members. Not that my shipping charges are inflated to begin with. But I usually pad by $1 or less to cover crazy stuff. The exception is international shipping. The pain in the ass factor is good for a couple bucks usually - but again, Acaeum members always get charged actual cost.

About the rss feed page.

The links to the pages don't go anywhere I put together a little site with the help of Feed2HTML it's a free utility. (Can't beat that price.)
The sample is

Here

The index is for each link and it opens a viewable webpage of each feed.

I modified the script a bit on the bottom of each page is a button that takes you back to the previous page. (I also took out the date function as it showed 12:00 no matter what time it was maybe it's just my php or something.

I have zipped all the files Here

I was even playing around with the random function and set it to show only 1 ad. I thought maybe I could eventually make a PHPBB MOD to show a random feed on a forum (Kinda like the Google Adsense Mod that places a single Google Ad in forums.) It's way beta but that would be cool free random ad based on the feed. The example is phpbb_ads.php Here

I added echo('<meta http-equiv="refresh" content="15">');  so the page automatically refreshes every 15 seconds.

Since there is not alot to randomize it is slow to work but refresh the page a few times and watch the new items rotate.. Fun stuff hope you like it or get inspired from it.

When processing I noticed the Under $10 feed is showing things starting at $5 and going up to $50 (That's under 10 Euro isn't it  Razz )

Had my first successful purchase from the site..quite surprised at the ability to leave longer comments about the experience, but still sort of stuck in the limited ebay mode.

Two sales and two purchases for me and it's great to know that my stuff WILL arrive in good time, WILL be in great condition and WILL be packaged properly. Barring intervention by the Royal Mail, of course. I feel absolutely confident buying from RPG Marketplace. Plus when selling I can now charge shipping at actual cost because I don't have to pay ridiculous fees. I don't have to pay any fees at all unless I'm paid with Paypal. I think there's a big future for the site, we're in the early days right now so things will seem a bit disjointed. Plus, this isn't eBay so it will all be a little strange to begin with. I do think a lot of work needs to be done by the software vendor on the interface though.

Honestly I feel bad, I've been wanting to list about 500 items for some time now, and now with the postal rates going up May 1st I've been using my spare time adjusting my Ebay listings to reflect the new rate, plus I'm in San Antonio next weekend, plus I have a comic book convention to work the weekend after....hopefully after THAT I can list some more so the site looks a little less empty.

And yes I agree with Megnelwil one of the great things about the marketplace is that you KNOW everything will be taken care of and packaged well and all that.  And, when the postal rate goes up, I'll just keep the old rate on all my RPG marketplace stuff since it will then be close to actual rate, no need to charge extra there.

Same for me, except it's about 300 items. But my masters at work are driving me like a slave right now. There's nothing I'd like more than to win the lottery, ditch the job and get into selling full-time. I can't believe how much I love the whole RPG scene after so many years away. One problem, I'm having a hard time winning the lottery. Must be fixed.

Good idea on the postage BTW. What's a few pennies in return for being able to say you ship at LESS than cost? I'll be doing that too as our postage costs go up in April(?). Mind you, when the Royal Mail announces a price rise it's best to hold your breath until you learn how big the hike is.

I would appreciate there being a column for the BIN price. I do not like having to click the item to see how much is wanted for it.

I don't know exactly how long the site's been around, but it looks like it has warmed up, and that's good.

Do you guys know if it only works for north-american buyers or should I expect sellers to be able to safely send stuff down to South America?

serleran: I'll have to check on how this could be added...

brute: on the main page there is a recently Listed Auctions section below the 2 rows of featured auctions... you can click on the "View All" and it lists all Newly Listed Auctions from newest to oldest

evilRafael: the site is for anywhere in the world.. but you'll have to find a seller willing to ship to South America... or maybe you'll have to take the risk of shipping to South America if you know the buyer. Only sellers are screened, buyers are not... but a bad buyer can easily be banned (and I might even create a banned buyer list should it ever become necessary ... then again, I can delete and ban them from the site if ti gets that bad)
