The problem with Ebay is they seem to treat all their customers as adversaries. Every time they usher in a major change, there seems to be little consultation with the users. It is craftily foisted upon everyone in successive bids which seem to be more about increasing Ebay company profits then really helping the users - and always it is veiled in the rhetoric of being good for us.
Ebay is a service provider and its success is ultimately dependent on the Sellers and Buyers that use it. If it bothered to engage and listen, the majority would help guide the company in the right direction. But I suspect as with all big companies, the focus is now more on maximising executive profit and shareholder return - the users of its service come second.

Another thing that will quickly drive sales away from eBay:
eBay doesn't recognize the computer you are using.
We understand that you may use different computers to access your accounts. However, since you're signing in from a new computer, in order to protect your account, you are being asked to confirm your identity through this phone verification process.
You will receive an automated call with a 4-digit PIN Number at the phone number you select below.
Having eBay call me all the time to make sure I'm really me is just outstanding. It's that personal connection to an automated voice that will bring me back to eBay time and time again. (Not to mention the auction format isn't drawing quite as much traffic as back in the day)
I am now a poster child for the fixed price format via Amazon. Can someone loan me a user ID with good feedback so I don't have to start all over again on another website?
