December 2007 Update
Here's the update... thought it needed to be in its own thread...

The reason I've been so silent is because most folks who were speaking up were wondering why I was posting and not writing... so I shut up and kept writing. Then of course folks who wondered why I wasn't posting started speaking up and... only proved to me you can't win for losing.    Wink

But here's an update...

The first issue of Adventure Games Journal is in final layout. I had hoped to have that complete before Christmas, in order to have it at the printer before the new year, but holiday stuff got in the way. So it looks like it will go to the printers the first week of January.

The first Campaign Installment, Player's Guide to the Southern Reaches, is not yet complete. However, part of the production process has shown me that working on two very different products at the same time slows both products down, so I have decided upon a new shipping format, to fit my new production format...

The magazines and campaign installments, rather than shipping together, will be stagger shipped. AGJ #1 will ship in January. CI #1 will ship in February. AGJ #2 will ship in March, CI #2 in April, and so forth. The effect is still the same, two 48-page books every other month, but subscribers will get a book every month rather than two every other month. Shipping will be First Class rather than Priority; I'm going to end up eating it a bit on the shipping to current international customers, but I think it's a better way of getting product out there. Goodies will ship with each mailing (the freebie color maps will usually ship with the CI, but in the case of the first it will ship with the AGJ).

So there's the latest and greatest. AGJ #1 in January, CI #1 in February, and (ideally) a regular monthly schedule thereafter.

I offer a 30-day money back guarantee on all products (I should post it on the site, now that I think of it). If you don't like the product, ship it back and I will refund your money. If someone wants out of a subscription, I will refund them the portion remaining (at this point in time, all of it), no questions asked. I'm not out to steal anyone's money.

Things simply have not gone as smoothly as I'd hoped. I should have known after all these years in the industry that nothing ever goes as planned, no matter how prepared you think you are, and set aside more time to get things started. Harsh lesson relearned.

I appreciate the update and forthright assessment of the project. I am looking forward to your work and wish to keep my subscription in place. Perhaps it will be easier than you think to please most of the people most of the time.

That is the best thing that a customer can hope for!

Gives us something to look forward.
My questions about the deadline were not meant as criticism.
I am just getting anxious to get my hands on the material!  Very Happy

Hey all,

I've been wanting to put some useful features on the website for some time; here's the first, the Games of the Week page:

http://www.adventuregamespubs.com/game_week.htm

This page lists all the new games that were delivered in the prior week to distributors (as far as I have been able to determine), and thus should be hitting the shelves at your Friendly Local Game Store now! This is something that I wanted to do with Adventure Games Journal, but as a print magazine, the list would be so far behind actual release it would be almost useless save as an historical document.

Should have some very good news later today, too...

A 7-page preview of Adventure Games Journal #1 is up on the site. We are sending the PDF to the printer today. We should be shipping the issue out to subscribers next week.

That's the good news I mentioned yesterday. Not as good as I would have preferred, but still good news...

Hope you enjoy the preview!

I've now got the second installment in the Games of the Week series up on the Adventure Games Publishing website. Games of the Week is a complete list of all print games released into distribution in the prior week, and thus should be available in stores this week. This includes board games, card games, miniatures games, party games, role playing games, trading card games, and wargames, plus other gamer-related products such as comic books, geek stuff, magazines, and more.

Starting this week I provide an analysis of many of the games and to whom they might most appeal. As time goes on and I'm able to establish patterns of releases, I will also be able to provide more detailed market analysis of what games are growing or shrinking in popularity, and why.

To check out Games of the Week go to www.adventuregamespubs.com and click on the button on the right side of the screen. Please let me know if you have any questions about Games of the Week or the AGP site in general.

New Games of the Week is up. This week I start listing Street Dates for products that hit stores this week, in addition to products that hit stores last week. So it is both preview and review now. Of course, only major products have actual Street Dates, but it should still help you plan your budget a bit more...

Adventure Games Journal #1 is sitting on my table; all the subscribers copies are in their envelopes, ready to be mailed first thing in the morning!

I knew when things got to -45 degrees with the wind chill and I saw a pit fiend run by rubbing his hands saying "This is way too damn cold, who shut off the furnace" that the product was almost here... Very Happy

Subscribers copies are being shipped with a copy of Campaign Map 18: Southern Reaches, plus a couple of other very minor goodies. The Player's Guide to the Southern Reaches should be done soon and at the printer shortly thereafter.

Please let me know what you think of the issue as soon as possible!

Hey all,

I've started a new weekly section on the AGP website, the Wilderlands Cool Rule of the Week. This is a FREE PDF, each of which will deal with a specific class, group, or general rules set; maybe some monster and treasures. We'll see what develops.

First up this week, a 10-page PDF chock full of sorcerers, their spells, and a couple of demons. Check it out. Did I mention it was FREE?
