I am finally going through some of my Judges Guild items to try and figure out what I have.  I have a copy of Survival of the Fittest but it is a white book with a guy with a sword standing with one foot on a rock.  The catalog at the back matches the 1st print ( "Other Great Fantasy from Judges Guild" upto #97).

The cover is different so I was wondering if this is suppose to have a green cover sheet and I am just missing it?  It doesn't look like anything was ripped away from the staples so I am guessing that the cover sheet was not staple but in the scan here it almost looks like it is.

Yeah, you are missing the entire green cover. It does look like a book all on its own without it though, so can see the confusion. The image on the back of the  product list is the same as the Dungeoneer 17 image.

Any other findings..always looking for new printings.

That's what I thought - my copy isn't in the best condition either.  Nothing else unusual so far.

I will go look...I believe I have two different colors of Survival of the Fittest.

Is that what you meant?

I just have the 1st print booklet by itself.  I wasn't sure if the green cover sheet was loose (in which case I am missing it) or stapled to the book (in which case I have a different printing).

It seems as is probably pretty typical, the loose cover sheet has gone missing.

Yeah the green cover is stapled to the book, full cover I should have stated as wrap around or front and back.  Sorry for any confusion there.

I will put up some scans of my copy then.  By looking at the staples, I don't think a cover sheet was attached to this book.

Looking these over now..have a question of my own for those with the 2nd print: regarding the numbered page 19, is there a good sized ink blot on the page?

Here are some pictures:

I left them big so hopefully I've linked them properly.  I'm not sure if there would be any differences between this and the first print but one place might be the space between "D&D     adventure" on line 3 of the first inside page.  "D&D" is also in bold here.

That is the ink blot and moving the one bit up a little makes the thing look like a skull Shocked
Now I swear I've seen that skull before in some Judges Guild product (no not the one at the back of Booklet L - I checked) or am I just seeing strange images where there should not be any Smile

Is the Skull animated?  Open and close mouthed as you flip through pages Smile

About the SotF, I thought it would match up.  The only thing that is suspect is that if you look at the staples in the first image, they are very tight to the book so I don't think a cover sheet would have been attached.  There is also no signs that such a sheet was ripped off.

I feel strongly that more books should have flip book animation.  I am thinking I should include one in my thesis that I am currently writing.

Your book though I think is probably cursed and just keeps saying BUY MORE BUY MORE!

West End Games's 1994 Paranoia supplement CTV/ParaNormal did it.  (Actually, it did both definitions of "flip book".  It had the animation, and it was two books in one -- you flipped one over to access the other book.)

Now let us never speak of it again.
