| Quote: | | The Gleemax launch is being promoted with an Alternate Realticy Game around the character of Gleemax, a brain in a jar that has come down to earth and taken over WotC R&D. The first clue in the ARG was a set of foam brains, sent out over the last couple of weeks, that included a puzzle with an e-mail address as the solution. E-mails to that address get a response directing players to the Website, with more to come. |
Wow, I can't imagine a more intriguing or exciting concept than figuring out the "clues" of a set of foam brains, except maybe if someone shoved my privates into a blender and put it on Puree while projecting the entire 8 seasons of The Gilmore Girls on a big screen netjacked directly into my brain.
Honestly, I've also tried not to be a knee jerk WOTC basher, but I've seriously shit out better ideas than this when I was in diapers. Unbelieveable. I wish such total failure on this that WOTC is put out of business. It's that unforgiveable.

I think they're trying to target younger gamers, obviously...I think even WoTC realizes that folks in our age group (25+) aren't going to be remotely interested.
Can't speak for anyone else, but I think if somebody tried to sell me "Gleemax" as a great intro to RPG gaming, then (1) I never would have gotten into RPGs and (2) probably would have been one of those guys that picked on "Gleemax" users incessantly.
Bad move. I'm not even interested in seeing how it pans out.

One of the original Cosmic Encounter aliens was pretty much a brain in a jar ... and that dates to 1975.
I sense a lawsuit! I think I'll ask my good friend DAYECON™ what the best way is to go about filing pretend lawsuits with make-believe county clerks. |

Clearly, Gleemax is the brainchild (irk!) of the same people who brought you the mid-season "hiatus" of Lost. |

. . . as well as New Coke , the end of "The Sopranos" , Hillarycare , and any other series with a cliffhanger/series-ender that doesn't make sense . |

"Gleemax" is a Magic the Gathering joke card... Gleemax is referenced in MTG for various reasons (spoofing the game). I'm pretty sure this is mainly going to support MTG and little or nothing to do with D&D, unless they're planning some kind of crossover...
Some dedicated fans of MTG were sent items from "Gleemax" over the past month or so promoting the new portal. |

Finally, the proof that d20 D&D is nothing more than MtG re-badged. Yay! I knew they'd finally hump the hound. |

Oops! I was wrong in my last post... They sent me this Gleemax brain thing in the mail awhile ago but it (the site) was just MTG related. Looks like they updated it just recently with this BS.
I guess the joke's on all the role players now
I hope you all enjoy Gleemax! |

The idea might work...just not with guys like us. |
Indeed... I also thought it sounded like a new toothpaste brand. What a dumb sounding name for a game portal... |

Nah! It's by the same morons who thought of Pepsi-Max,
Mental image of drugged out office freaks running around in 70's gear trying to retro their vocabulary - Glee-max.
Oooo sounds close to 'Gygax' too!
