... I hope he's not serious about it. Maybe it was just his kind of answer to many overpriced auctions that were posted today. Anyway, even as a joke, one would have been enough, don't ya think? |

Typical free listing day behaviour. Well, not free, but a lot cheaper than usual. Number of items listed was about 10 times of what was usual for a thursday (at least in the stamps section which I check regularly) and the quality of the items was about 90% trash (i.E. forged material, bad condition, heavily overpriced things like dealer stock waiting for some very desperate buyer etc.)
I doubt he will sell any of those, though, but if he sells but one item... |

i agree - this is ebay's doing - i also collect other stuff on ebay (is there no end to my geekiness?) and on free posting day all the crap goes up.
I hate to come over all capitalist (esp. for a one time socialist) but what we need is proper competition to ebay... |

The Rogue's gallery looks to have stains near the bottom. Not NM by a long shot IMO. Fuzzy pictures too. You'd think for $500 he could get better pictures. |

Here was his response when I asked him if he knew they usually go for $10-15 each:
Dear eyeam.gawd,
An excellent copy of a single module in this series usually markets for
$20-$25 at the vendor's booth of any given gaming convention in the
country. Most modules for sale at these booths are in marginal condition
at best (representing a total waste of money), and I have never seen a
single vendor offer the complete series. I know this because I have been
to many of these conventions myself, precisely for the purpose of
acquiring this particular series, and it took me quite some time to
assemble what you see.
So, assuming:
(a.) you have the means to travel around the country at one or more
gaming conventions of your choice so you can personally sort through,
inspect, and purchase only the best quality modules available,
and
(b.) you could actuallY FIND all of these in good condition in the vendors
area of one or more gaming conventions,
THEN you'd have to pay roughly $200 for the lot, plus travel expenses and
lodging. But I can guarantee you you're not going to be able to put
this set together buying from any single vendor, or even from many
different vendors at any single gaming convention in the world. If you
know of a vendor or a place on the internet that offers such a set, please
send me the link, and I will buy it. :-)
The value of this set lies in its completeness. There is tremendous
value in the time and effort it took to assemble it, alone. It doesn't
have to sell now. All it has to do is sit and grow more valuable over
time, which is sure to happen no matter who owns it.
Thanks for the comment.

Gee, lucky for me I have all printings of each of the monochromes. I should just sell them and buy a Ferarri. |

Deadlord...
You saved me from writing the loser and asking him if he was on crack. I guess you phrased it more diplomatically than I would have. |

If he's totally legit in what he's saying (about how much effort he put in to getting these) then he's one sad individual. |

OK... one (or both) have GOT to be shill bids. That, or somebody with way too much free time is messing with that guy. Shame, he must being doing a dance or something. Almost tempted to ask after the auction is over if he actually got paid (and if I can have the high bidder's email address... I can sell him a copy of I10 at a steal of $5000). |
