Hi obiter,

Old games like Alien Logic will not run on today's powerful PCs. I have a program called dosbox, which is available here:

http://www.dosbox.com/

It is a dos emulator and I have been able to run most of my Windows 95 and earlier games on it. It is a little complicated but there are tutorials around. Have a look also at www.abandonia.com

Alien Logic can be played on dosbox.

Here is a German RPG magazine with a Jorune article in it!

I am tempted to bid, but the Seller does not accept PayPal:

on the list of products there was one other very limited gencon release not mentioned. it was called companion jorune: jorune sholari supplement. under the title reads " this is a pre-release version of a supplement which may appear at a later date in a substantially altered form". it`s a 12 single-side pages, spiral bound 8.5x11.5 inch. copyright 1991. iirc they had 12 to 16 of them there each with a unique pithy saying on the cover. one other jorune story about the boxed set. again iirc they had the box ready ahead of the books at gencon so they were selling preorders in numerical order. i walked up and was talking to amy just as she was selling #99 to a guy who then decided to buy #100 as well. i said i`d like #100 and why don`t we bid for it. amy loved it, we started and i won it for $40 (amy told me next year that the guy was so upset after i left he bought #101 too so he bracketed me). a few months later my signed & numbered copy  showed up in the mail with a personalized note  thanking me. i wonder if she remembers that crazy kid at her booth.

in the near future (i.e. within the month) my wife and i will be taking pictures of the frp wall and sending them in to scott. i was also going to include pictures of some of the very rare items. and since you asked we`ll include a picture of the jorune item as well. as to the # of boxes, amy had indicated to me at the time something in the 110 to 120 range.

For anyone looking to get a 2nd ed Jorune set. He is decent one with low starting bid.

Thanks for posting that. Interesting.

I am starting to think I should give up on this hobby as I am so darn absent-minded. Today, I planned the day around sniping an auction (I never win otherwise). A Jorune set with the Ardoth and Burdoth expansions. I still do not have a copy of Burdoth. Of course, come 12:30, I utterly and completely forgot. This happens to me on at least half of the things I plan to bid on these days.

Look at the price $28! Arrrrgh. No let me add a few mores 'r' s to my arrrgh.

Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh! I really wanted that.

Yes. That is very cheap. Ardoths and Burdoths often reach $50 individually. The set is in nice condition too. My worst auction miss was a big lot in Melbourne. Someone clearing their flat mates gaming stuff out and pickup only. There must have been 50 games including two Heroquest sets and some Talisman not to mention regular role playing. I was going to snipe with $220. However, had to take my kids to an afterschool class. I asked my wife if she could take them so I could bid and she said 'no way'. So I put in my bid early. The only other contender, whom I outbid, bid over me before auction close 30 min later. Had I sniped I would have won. Same thing today my wife wanted to go out shopping and I'm looking after my youngest, so got distracted. Anyway, can't complain! Another will come along!

Did anyone here ever get a copy of Journal of the Tansoor Historical Society?

This seems to have been designed through the regular jorune.org website. The page is still there http://www.jorune.org/tansoor/ but it obvioulsy hasn't been active active for a long time.

I tried contacting the author but no reply.

I tried the email on that site - so my message must have gone nowhere. Can you PM me his email? If only 25 copies were ever printed, I place my chance of getting on as nil. But would like to contact him to see if I get get a .pdf or the text. Thanks!
